Krokbragd: Design and Weave Class

Weavers worldwide delight in the charming motifs of the Norwegian technique known as krokbragd. Journey into the history, structure, and design of traditional three-shaft krokbragd. Gain detailed instruction on the basics of krokbragd weaving, yarn and color selection, patterns and drafts, weaving tips, and finishing techniques. Each student will then design and weave their own unique sampler. Weaving experience and ability to wind and warp a loom independently are required.

John C. Campbell Folk School is located in scenic Brasstown, among the mountains of western North Carolina. The Folk School offers more than 800 weeklong and weekend classes for adults in traditional and contemporary craft, art, music, dance, cooking, gardening, nature studies, photography and writing. For more than 90 years, the Folk School has encouraged all students and guests to become a part of the community through all-school activities such as concerts, dances, presentations and meals. People with varying interests are given a chance to come together through song, art, nature, gardening, cooking, storytelling and writing.

The Weaving Studio at the the Folk School has a spacious home within the Pitman Fiber Arts Building. Numerous looms, warping boards, a yarn closet, a well-stocked supply closet, washing machine and dryer and a reading library provide the perfect environment for weavers.
