Natural Dyeing Class

Natural Dyeing Class

For the last few weeks, I’ve been working on my first class for Skillshare and it’s now officially live!

If you’re not familiar, Skillshare is an online learning community with thousands of classes on everything from business to graphic design to crafting – it’s the Netflix of learning. Classes are bite-sized and have a fun project so you can practice your newly learned skills.

My class is on Natural Dyeing, where you’ll learn the basics of natural dyeing and create your own hand dyed item. I demonstrate the process using tumeric, because it's a common item in many home kitchens and can easily be found in the spice section of the local grocery store.  Tumeric dyes a bright yellow.

This is the silk scarf I made:

I walk you through the steps of dyeing an object of your choice. You might want to dye a silk scarf like I did, but you could also try a cloth napkin, a cotton shopping bag, ribbon, yarn, fabric.

“I loved this class! Debby Greenlaw is very knowledgeable, she was clear and concise, and her step-by-step instructions make it so easy to follow along. Her warm and friendly manner is very enjoyable! With some classes, the student has to have so much equipment that the ultimate goal is not attainable. However, Debby's method uses minimal equipment that most people already have on hand in their kitchen. I am looking forward to trying Debby's dye method and I look forward to more of her classes! I highly recommend this class to anyone who is interested in learning how to dye fabrics with natural and non-toxic dye.” - - - T.F.

If your would like to enroll in my class, here is the link .

If you know of anyone else that’d be interested to learn Natural Dyeing, I’d appreciate if you’d share the link with them too.

Thanks you so much!
